Our Story

Tico Fabrics Ltd. is a Nigerian-founded sustainable fashion and lifestyle brand rooted in Afrocentric creativity, modesty, and environmental responsibility. The brand is built on zero-waste production processes and textile waste recycling, creating soulful designs that honor culture while reducing environmental impact. Originally registered in Nigeria in 2019, Tico Fabrics began with a focus on modest womenswear and lifestyle pieces, including custom garments, scarves, hijabs, embroidered dresses, abayas, and bridal styling. After a brief pause in 2022 following relocation to Finland, the brand entered a new phase of growth and innovation. In 2025, Tico was reimagined as a sustainability-driven startup and became a private limited liability company, officially reopening on 1st February 2026 with an expanded vision. Today, Tico Fabrics offers women’s apparel produced through zero-waste methods, alongside lifestyle products such as pillows, resin art, and jewellery made from recycled textile waste. Every piece reflects the brand’s commitment to its guiding message: Soulful designs, sustainably made.

About the Founder

Tico Fabrics was founded by Aisha Abass, a Nigerian creative and entrepreneur whose journey into fashion began at the age of 13. While still in school, she learned sewing alongside her studies, initially creating clothing for herself and her family. After high school, she began selling beddings and pillowcases to family members, teachers, and colleagues, marking her first steps into entrepreneurship. The name “Tico” originates from a Yoruba phrase used to praise her, “Aisha ti ko nisha,” meaning “the Aisha that will not fade.” This affirmation became the foundation of the brand’s identity.

Throughout her university years, Aisha continued to refine her craft, creating garments for peers and participating in fashion fairs and industry events. After relocating to Finland, she pursued studies in International Business, where she later rebranded Tico Fabrics as part of her work placement. This fusion of creative skill and business strategy now defines the brand’s direction.

Over a decade after her first sale, Aisha continues to lead Tico Fabrics with a vision that merges culture, sustainability, and purposeful design, while building meaningful connections with a growing global audience. With Tico, you are guaranteed sustainability in every piece. Welcome to the Ticofamily!
